As any good up-to-date nerd or geek would have observed recently, Nintendo is releasing a retro gaming system this week for all those 80’s kids to relive the joy of highly pixilated, simplistic and frustrating games.
Little did I know that I would have a second 80’s flashback within the same week.
I was waiting in line to vote at an elementary school today and saw the following map on the wall:
I didn’t check to see the date on the map, but it’s clearly before 1989, because the USSR, Yugoslavia, East/West Germany, Sudan, Burma and a long list of others are still intact. The only way I can rationalize this map’s presence is that it is reserved for the employees or parents/grandparents of children that attend this school, given the question posted next to it.
I noticed part of the school’s mission is “that all students maximize their academic potential, develop skills for lifelong learning and are successful contributors to a global society.” Perfect.
